As I predicted, Congress introduces “Tik Tok ban” bill…which will ban VPNs and possibly Linux and FreeBSD.

If you read the bill, it criminalizes accessing websites and using software made by “foreign adversaries”.

Upload photographs of nature to Imgsrc.ru (a website riddled with child sexual exploitation)? Up to 20 years in prison.

Download a Linux distribution made by somebody in Russia? Up to 20 years in prison.

Hell, for many years, neocons have publicly attacked Linux as “communist software made by foreign adversaries”, so if the government takes that into consideration, ALL Linux distributions could be made illegal, with Americans who make their own Linux distributions – myself included – or use Linux distributions risk going to prison for up to 20 years.

Run a website which hosts Linux distribution ISOs? Up to 20 years in prison.

Use a VPN to download Linux distributions and download software updates on Ubuntu, Debian, or Fedora? Up to 20 years in prison.

A lot of people use VPNs with Netflix to access content which isn’t available, such as Japanese animes. This could get you put in prison for up to 20 years.

Some people also use VPNs to save money on subscriptions to streaming services such as Netflix. That could get you put in prison for up to 20 years in addition to being charged with defrauding companies such as Netflix.
